With their abundance of blossoms, mountain meadows attract many different insects. Each tiny creature finds nectar here to suit its own taste. But pollen provides the real power food. Insects collect it for their offspring, carry it from flower to flower and in doing so ensure pollination.

To attract insects, flowers have a great deal to offer. They shine like billboards, smell like perfume shops and provide nectar like a bar. Some even use abundant colour or unusual shapes to pretend they are insects themselves.
