Simon Neuner, grazing spokesperson,
on the ability of goats to keep dry grasslands from becoming overgrown with shrubs
Simon Neuner is the spokesperson for the Lafreins grazing area in Fließ and runs a farm. His responsibilities include organising communal work such as scrub clearance and conservation mowing, supervising sheep, goats, donkeys and horses, and checking and repairing fences, watering troughs and hoopoe nest boxes. Together with many other farmers in the region, he helps ensure that the dry grassland areas do not become overgrown. He talks about this in the audio piece “Preserving the Landscape Together. The Interplay of Humans and Animals in the Nature Reserve”.
